Lebanon’s June elections are shaping up to be a referendum on who the Lebanese people want to meddle in their affairs less:
“Our course is justice, independence, freedom, sovereignty and most importantly — Lebanon first,” Hariri told AFP in an interview, referring to his coalition backed by the West as well as Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
“That is not the case for the other side,” he added, referring to the Hezbollah-led alliance backed by Syria and Iran.
Saudi Arabia and the West versus Syria and Iran. Or at least this is how Mr. Hariri is attempting to frame it. While other issues, such as education and the economy, are sure to play a part in the election, it’s interesting that once again Lebanon is the battleground for other states interests.

In all honety, if the US wants the March14 to gain more momentum before the elections - The US needs to guarantee to the March14 movement (Spoken by the March14) concessions in solving the Lebanese Israeli problems. Namely the 400′000 Palestinians pushed into religiously sensitive Lebanon.
Thats how you gain people’s trust, and win over their hearts. If this is a huge feat, which It is - The US need to find solutions in that direction.
I am sure that the far majority of Lebanese are very glad to have Syria out of Lebanon - In the hope it remains at bay in Lebanese internal affairs - and I guess the US had much to do along with France of course to disband Syrian interference into Lebanese politics.
